Bandaragama
Rising up above the murky waters of fear and doubt, these classrooms without borders, provide a second chance at education and life for underprivileged children, at the Bandaragama Academy for Avinya Foundation.
The design transforms educational architecture, by rethinking learning spaces --removes walls of traditional rectilinear classrooms to open elliptical learning pavilions, and places them in a garden. These open spaces connects students with nature, encourages reflection and prompts creativity.
Redefined Learning Space
Inspired by lily pads, these Classrooms without Borders gracefully rise above the landscape, following a gentle swirl along the revitalised waterbody. The architecture is transparent, allowing natural light to flood the spaces while encouraging natural cross-ventilation. The inclusive and inviting design encourages communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills that are essential in today's interconnected world.
